Archive for April 2010
Well well well, now THAT was quite an event! The Alter Egos Society had a blast at the 7th annual Stumptown Comics Fest this past weekend. When we found out that we’d be sharing a table with our friends Atomic Arts (producers of “Trek In The Park”),we knew it would be a good time.
During the Fest, we had a few different AES volunteers staffing the booth and—whether hero or villain—being friendly with people who stopped by. In addition to the previously mentioned Membership Signup, we were also selling DVDs of ARCHIVES OF THE FANTASTIC, tshirts, and patches, all things which we hope to have for sale on the website soon!
We also had a screen set up for people to view the newest AES promotional video and the remixed ARCHIVES trailer (and headphones so they could listen without annoying our neighboring booths), which seemed to draw a lot of people in. Children especially seemed interested in the whole masks-and-capes thing, many of them being familiar with the likes of Batman and Superman (as well they should be!). Our representatives did a great job interacting with children both big and small, and getting the super word out.
For more pictures from the Stumptown Comics Fest 2010, check out our AES-centric AES at Stumptown Comics Fest 2010 Flickr gallery, or the Stumptown Comics Fest 2010 Flickr group pool for photos that may or may not feature awesome superheroes or supervillains. And hopefully we’ll see you again next year, Stumptown comics fans!

Alex Roberts was a talented mechanic who had found the perfect match in a marriage to the inventor Jane Roberts. The pinnacle of their achievement together was the creation of a powerful suit of armor created for a mysterious client. But when Jane discovered their client was a crime boss she was silenced. Witness to the tragedy, the horror of that day lead to the creation of a new hero. Grim and relentless, yet moving beyond vengeance, Alex made the transformation into Alloy, the defender of the defenseless.
Professor Heinrich Megahertz was a brilliant scientist but often ridiculed for his strange ideas and extreme behavior. He finally snapped when a student of his introductory calculus class openly questioned the usefulness of math and science in general. Professor Megahertz responded with a device that downloaded the curriculum directly into the students minds, leaving them hollow, math reciting drones. Relieved of his teaching duties Dr. Megahertz was free to pursue his unique vision of a scientific future.
In the 31st century, Sky Ray Lor-An Ku-Nal was a top student at the Academy of Superhero Arts and Sciences. But she longed for the kind and daring spirit of the great heroes of centuries bygone. A temporal vortex transported her to our present day, where she must now make her way amongst the legendary heroes. And thus began the legend of Sky Ray, faster than a ray of light, torn from the world she knew, dedicated to a life of adventure as a protector of the helpless.
Everyone’s mind is a box that holds private thoughts, dark secrets that should not see the light of day. One girl, born to a broken family, grew up to discover that she had the strange and terrible power to open those boxes and play with what was inside. Her amusement wrecks lives and destroys fortunes, letting loose on an unsuspecting world the appetites of a troubled child that would have been better kept locked away.
Edward Walters was an historian of ancient texts. Reading an occult scroll, he unknowingly swore an oath of servitude to the mysterious and powerful, Guardian of the Gates. Spirited away from the dusty life he had known, he was trained to mastery in the mystic arts. But he learned his mentor meant to use him as a sacrifice to allow a demon horde access to this realm. Edward swore to defend the Earth, and defeated the treacherous Guardian, becoming the Gatekeeper of this plane of existence, the master of all magics, the Sorcerer.
Yorick the Magnificent was just an ordinary circus performer, until the day his circus refused to pay protection money to the mob. Yorick awoke in a barrel in a toxic waste dump, the sole survivor of the circus. His old life gone, he turned his new powers to the pursuit of fame at all costs, pitting himself against the forces of law and order, relishing even his own infamy so that the world would know the name of Yorick the Magnificent.
Lately at the AES HQ we have been busy working on a revision of the ARCHIVES OF THE FANTASTIC movie. making another pass at color correction and tightening up the edit (plus adding a few new DVD extras). As part of this, we’ve cut a new trailer! Check it out below. And we will have more news for you about this revised movie release as the date draws near. Stay tuned!
