Tagline: An amateur short film of epic proportions!

Plot: The evil telepath Pandora has stolen a powerful mystical artifact, the Cosmic Crystal, and heroic master of magik, The Sorcerer, is trying to stop her misuse of its dangerous power. Skyray, a heroine from the future, trails her brilliant arch enemy Dr. Megahertz, who is secretly building a device to harness the power of the Cosmic Crystal. Prankster villain Yorick has abandoned criminal pranks in favor of bank robbery; auto mechanic-turned-robot-armored-hero Alloy wants to know why.

From her invisible space station, the ancient, omniscient Archivist records Earth’s history, and watches as the conflict between good and evil throws the fate of the world into jeopardy…

About the movie:

We did a little bit of street theater to promote the first Alter Egos Society event. This movie was originally conceived as a 15 minute short web video to promote one of our fundraisers for p:ear After writing a couple of drafts of the screenplay we decided to let the story itself dictate the length. And so we have a 45 minute amateur epic!

Rather than try to make personal profit from the production (which just didn’t fit the spirit that we were going for) we decided to use it to raise money for p:ear. P:ear is a local not-for-profit with a mission to mentor homeless youth through education, art instruction and recreational opportunities. We really like the work they’re doing and the values they’re acting on (including the emphesis on creativity, which we could all use more of).

We started pre-production in February 2008, assembled an all volunteer cast and crew and filled a couple months between June and September. Post-production was completed in July 2009 and the movie premiered later that month at the Bagdad Theater in Portland, Oregon. All proceeds from the showing went to p:ear.
